Without any further ado... the flip vest!
I've been reading Made for a couple of months now. She posts really great projects, has easy to follow patterns, lovingly useful tutorials and loads of great inspiration. Her latest pattern release is for the flip vest. I downloaded it right away. too cute and it's really hard to find fun things to make for boys.
I hit the local Joann's this past weekend and got a deal on a neon yellow polar fleece remnant. perfect! and well, making two is just as easy as making one with a little more time. the plaid is from a man's extra large shirt. I was happy to keep the pocket intact on the front. the second is a vintage white with red stripes that I had thrifted recently. very 70s. so I got to work completing both vests with button holes! in only a few hours.
I hadn't made a button hole in years. have been avoiding them, but these cute vests deserved it. couple of successful test and we have finished vests with super cute button holes. I should add that my machine has 4 step button hole stitches built in. easy.
I was having a really hard time deciding which vest to keep for Henry & which to send to Drew. Henry made it easy, red & white one was a little snug on him. and Drew--like his parents--is less husky then us Mees's. though I think I'm going to remake drew's in a larger size for Henry because it is so fantastic.
I'm very happy with the results... an this all during "celebrate the boy" week on made by Rae & made.
Tonight big butt baby pants or maybe a bathrobe.
