I've never been a big fan of Valentine's Day. But who can resist dressing their chubby baby up in cherub wings. Really it's perfect. I can make something and we can take pictures of all the cuteness. And really that's it. OH and seeing all the comments on Facebook.
I started by sketching a few different styles of wings. I've made wings before... mostly of the Faerie variety and knew what ends up looking ok. So wings in the closed position would be the easiest and give the best end result. Less chance of flopping. So I enlarged one of the sketches, pinned and cut it out of some white wool felt. I thought white on both sides was boring and I had this really nice remnant of a robin's egg blue. Perfect for the underside. An hour or so later, some fiber fill and a little redo time. Wah lah cherub wings. Instant adorable overload.
Then I'm thinking what is he going to wear the wings with. This is after he's crawling around in them with his pjs this morning. Because of course I was up at 5:30 at the sewing machine. Oh, yeah, we just got him some red pants, and I've got some scraps of velvet so I'll stitch a heart on a onesie. Perfect. Done. All except the part about a diaper blow out before the photo op.
So here is the wee lad in two separate ensembles. Before and after said blow out. I know, he's going to want to kill me in a few years. Hey, just wait until Easter.
